Primary Candidate Profile: Jermaine Jones, for Council District 12






In 1-2 sentences, explain why you are running for District 12 and what motivated you to seek this position.


I've committed my entire adult life to advocating for our communities and working families. As a lifelong Baltimorean, I have seen our community's challenges and opportunities. I'm running for city council because I believe we can build a stronger, more prosperous Baltimore. A Baltimore that benefits everyone by working together. As Councilman for the 12th district, I will diligently work to create good jobs, improve our schools, and make our neighborhoods safer.


In 1-2 sentences, describe how your background and/or previous experience has prepared you to serve as Councilman


I graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in political science. I'm currently a member of the 45th District Maryland State Central Committee. As Political Director for various organizations, I took the lead on passing various pieces of legislation throughout multiple Maryland jurisdictions.


 What are your top 3 priorities or key goals if elected as Councilman?


1. Ensuring Public Safety: Our neighborhoods deserve the utmost security. I pledge to work tirelessly in collaboration with law enforcement, community organizations, and residents to make safety a virtue of our City.


2. Elevating Education: Education is our bridge to a brighter future. I am unwaveringly committed to securing increased funding and resources for our schools, ensuring our children receive the world-class education they deserve.


3. Enhancing Economic Development: Our City has untapped opportunities. I will champion initiatives that drive responsible economic growth and the creation of good jobs, improving the lives of all residents.


What do you see as the most pressing issue facing District 12 residents right now?


The most pressing issue facing 12 district residents is crime. Not only do we need to get crime in the city under control we also need to tackle the perception of crime to ensure residents also feel safe.

I've always been driven by a passion for community service and a desire to positively impact the lives of those around me. Over the years, I have participated in numerous initiatives to help address the challenges our communities face. From advocating for improved educational resources to driving legislation supporting good jobs for city residents, I've dedicated myself to improving Baltimore.
